2014 Highlights

2014

It's that time of year again.
Time to look back at the past year and hit some of the highlights.

January and February were spent shoveling snow.

Things got going in March when I was asked to create the trophies for

=====================================================================

In April I was the featured artist at An Octopus Garden
for Earth Day Weekend.

Also in April I as part of the For the Birds exhibit at

========================================================================

In May it was the Perkins Center for the Arts annual
members show.

======================================================================

==================================================================
That brings us to July
In July I had my big show of the year.
It was my first solo show at Annex 24 Gallery

This is where I premiered my Untooled collection.
This is a series of sculptures designed to showcase the beauty and artistry
inherent in the vintage tools of past generations.

==================================================================

 In September, The Alfred I. duPont/Nemours Children's Hospital opened
their new facility in Wilmington, DE.
Throughout the entire facility is art designed to appeal to children and
make their stay there maybe just a little bit brighter.
I was pleased to donate three pieces of art for this mission.

.

===================================================================

October was the fifth anniversary on An Octopus's Garden in Millville.
The occasion was celebrated with an art exhibit titled  Under the Sea.
I was happy to enter two pieces in the show.

======================================================================

November brought the Winter Festival of Art at The Frame Station Gallery
in Berwyn, PA
I was happy to sell two pieces in the show.

======================================================================

The year ended with two holiday art sales:
Artful Giving at RRCA
and

Torso

"Torso"
A sculpture created from a piece
that I found along the railroad tracks.
I'm not sure of its origins,
but I believe it may be part of a coupler.

This piece exhibits strength and power.
It has many gouges and has been broken.
It must have experienced  tremendous forces that
twisted and gouged much character into its being.

This sculpture actually created itself.
It was just waiting for someone to see it for what it really was.
I'm pleased to have been a part of its destiny.

"torso" can be purchased here.

Lefty Loosey - Righty Tighty

Lefty Loosey and Righty Tighty
  are my two newest wall hangings.
The titles come from an old mechanic's saying.
When someone was unsure which way to turn a screw, the
mechanic would say "lefty loosey, righty tighty"

Lefty - Loosey
Righty - Tighty

These two pieces prominently feature tools that turn-
wrenches, screwdrivers, drill bits, etc.

Detail  -  Lefty-Loosey

Detail  -  Righty-Tighty

They are on the larger side, measuring 24" in diameter by 40" in height.

comporre`

Created from objects found and collected on the highways of southern New Jersey,
comporre` is a sculpture that presents a compelling vision.

The heavy center piece,
combined with the attached chain,
(just as it was found), evokes a sense of strength.
The circle attempts to keep that strength within bounds,
but the chain escapes those bounds and roots the entire piece to the earth.

Suitable for indoor or outdoor display,
indoor is preferred.

It has not been coated or sealed in any way.
All the components are in their found condition,
except for some sharp edges that have been removed.

.

The chain is free to move and can be rearranged to create a variety of views.

de'monte'

De'monte'
is a minimalist abstract sculpture.

This sculpture, excluding the base is comprised of only four elements.
Three of those elements are simple geometric shapes,
a square, a rectangle, and a circle.
The fourth element, a free form rusty metal rod,
is what brings movement and depth to the piece.

This is a relatively small piece,
measuring only 14" in height.
