Two Piece Commission

My Gloucester County College show was
a great success. It was at the show that I was
approached by a woman who was impressed
by my sculptures created from old tools. She
had a pile of her father's old tools and asked
if I would be able to use them to create a
sculpture to memorialize her Dad. We decided
that I would take a look at the tools and see
what possibilities arose.

Time passed (she had to travel to New York
to retrieve the tools). I had pretty much forgotten
about it when she gave me a call. We made an
appointment at which time she presented to me
a box full of really neat and unusual tools. She
now wished for me to make two small pieces
and she would keep one and surprise her brother
with the other.

After playing with them, arranging
and rearranging them, I came up with
these designs.

GCC

On September 6, 2013 I will be a featured
artist at the Dr. Ross Beitzel Art Gallery. The
Gallery is located at Gloucester County College,
in Sewell, NJ.

The Gallery has featured the fine art of prominent
artists from all over the globe as well as those
artists closer to home.

Although I never graduated, I did attend GCC
in the early 1970's. I even took an art class from
Dr. Beitzel, when he and I were both quite a bit
younger.

I remember many times as a student there, wandering
around admiring the art. Never did I think that
one day I would have my art on display.

I am honored to have been selected to show
my work at the gallery.

It has been a long time since that class with
Dr. Beitzel. It will be exciting to return to GCC.
Details of the show are available here.

I Gotta Get Better

I really must do a better job of keeping
current with my posts. It seems there
is always something else to do.

Since my last post, I have been busy.
I've had shows in Millville, Ocean City,
Lancaster and Berwyn.

I've also been doing well on my Etsy
shop. You can view my Etsy shop
here.

I have a show coming up next month
at Gloucester County College. I will
be posting more about that next week.
I promise.

All the pieces shown on this page
have found new homes. I hope their
new owners enjoy them as much
as  did

Annex 24 Gallery - II

On Friday May 3, I will once again
be showing my work at
Lancaster, PA

May 3 is the opening night of the
Spring Art Walk. In addition to the
galleries staying open late, there
will be music throughout the city's
art district.
I will be showing some of my
newest pieces and also some
pieces that I have not shown for
quite a while.

I always enjoy showing at
Annex 24. They feature a
diverse assortment of art from
all media and genres.

First Friday always generate an
energy and excitement that make
it an evening not to be missed.

Earth Day 2013

Once again An Octopus's Garden has invited
me to be the featured artist for Earth Day Weekend.
I really enjoy being a part of the Earth Day
celebrations. It gives me an opportunity to show
what can be done with used and recycled materials.

There are many people doing many amazing
things with recycled material, from art to building
construction, and everything in between. One doesn't
need to be overly creative or have to "think outside
the box" to be a part. Just using one less paper cup
or napkin a day is an easy way to help protect our
dwindling and fragile resources.

This year's festivities kick off with the Third Friday
events on Friday, April 19, 2013, 6-9:30 pm.
Third Friday is always fun. The art district stays open
late and there is music all over town with great shopping,
food and drink.

I have been busy making new sculpture for the weekend.
I will also have with me more of my WORDS . They always
seem to be a favorite.

I have created a new series of sculpture, STICKS. These
are small sculptures designed to be both fun and
affordable. I have made one larger version of a STICK
sculpture that will be given to a lucky attendee. So stop by
and put your name in the hat.

This sculpture will be given away to the winner of the drawing.

Update

It's been quite a while since my last
post, so I thought it was time to catch up
on a few things.

I was in a show at Annex 24 Gallery in Lancaster,
PA for the months of November, December, and
January. The show was a success, with throngs
of people out enjoying the holiday events.

I had a great time up there. We got to see the
sights around Lancaster County, which is always one
of our favorite places to visit.

Crusade

This Saturday, March 23, I will be in a show opening
at Tria Art Gallery in Woodbury, NJ. Tria is a new
gallery that just recently opened. It's nice to see
the arts coming to some local towns in the
Gloucester County area.

I will once again be the Featured Artist for Earth
Day Weekend at An Octopus's Garden in
Millville, NJ.  More on that later.

So I have been keeping busy. I just haven't been
keeping current with my posts on here.
