Annex 24 Gallery - II

On Friday May 3, I will once again
be showing my work at
Lancaster, PA

May 3 is the opening night of the
Spring Art Walk. In addition to the
galleries staying open late, there
will be music throughout the city's
art district.
I will be showing some of my
newest pieces and also some
pieces that I have not shown for
quite a while.

I always enjoy showing at
Annex 24. They feature a
diverse assortment of art from
all media and genres.

First Friday always generate an
energy and excitement that make
it an evening not to be missed.

Earth Day 2013

Once again An Octopus's Garden has invited
me to be the featured artist for Earth Day Weekend.
I really enjoy being a part of the Earth Day
celebrations. It gives me an opportunity to show
what can be done with used and recycled materials.

There are many people doing many amazing
things with recycled material, from art to building
construction, and everything in between. One doesn't
need to be overly creative or have to "think outside
the box" to be a part. Just using one less paper cup
or napkin a day is an easy way to help protect our
dwindling and fragile resources.

This year's festivities kick off with the Third Friday
events on Friday, April 19, 2013, 6-9:30 pm.
Third Friday is always fun. The art district stays open
late and there is music all over town with great shopping,
food and drink.

I have been busy making new sculpture for the weekend.
I will also have with me more of my WORDS . They always
seem to be a favorite.

I have created a new series of sculpture, STICKS. These
are small sculptures designed to be both fun and
affordable. I have made one larger version of a STICK
sculpture that will be given to a lucky attendee. So stop by
and put your name in the hat.

This sculpture will be given away to the winner of the drawing.

Update

It's been quite a while since my last
post, so I thought it was time to catch up
on a few things.

I was in a show at Annex 24 Gallery in Lancaster,
PA for the months of November, December, and
January. The show was a success, with throngs
of people out enjoying the holiday events.

I had a great time up there. We got to see the
sights around Lancaster County, which is always one
of our favorite places to visit.

Crusade

This Saturday, March 23, I will be in a show opening
at Tria Art Gallery in Woodbury, NJ. Tria is a new
gallery that just recently opened. It's nice to see
the arts coming to some local towns in the
Gloucester County area.

I will once again be the Featured Artist for Earth
Day Weekend at An Octopus's Garden in
Millville, NJ.  More on that later.

So I have been keeping busy. I just haven't been
keeping current with my posts on here.

Protracted Degradation

My latest piece 'Protracted Degradation', is
created from pieces that I have been collecting
for quite some time. These pieces have mostly
come from the shoulders of roadways.  Some
from back roads and some from interstates (at
the risk of life and limb). All of the components
were well on their way back to the earth from
which they came. However, now they have been
given a new life.

It's rewarding to find old discarded objects and
assemble them into works of art.

I am pleased to be a part of the November show

combines photography, sculptures and paintings,
classes and seminars, live music and VIP events
into a exploration of artistic expression.

I will be debuting several new pieces created
for this show.

The gallery is located at:
24 West Walnut Street,
Lancaster, PA 17603

There will be an opening reception as part of
Lancaster's 'First Friday':

My Studio

My studio

I am often asked where I create my sculpture. Well, I don't have a fancy studio, a garage, or even a shed in which to work.

The ceiling.
I am sort of like the village smithy of
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. Instead
One of my consultants.
of working under the spreading chestnut
tree, I work under the spreading maple
tree.
The conditions are less than ideal. In the
summer it is blazing hot, in the winter
it is freezing cold, and all year long I
have to dodge raindrops. These conditions
are conducive to efficient work. I tend
to work in spurts and quite fast.
Actually, it it nice to work in the backyard.
I am able to take frequent breaks and get
advivce and opinions when needed.
So here are some pictures of my 'studio'.

Summer Shows

Lady With Earring
Sold  at Perkins members show
in June

It has been a while since my last post, but that doesn't mean
that I haven't been busy. In between closing out my iron
business and finding a new job I still managed to squeeze
in a few shows.

I entered a piece in the Perkins Center for the Arts annual
members show. I was happy to win an award for the piece,
Lady With Earring, and also happy to have it find a new
home.

In July I was the featured artist artist of the
Media Arts Council. I exhibited my work
at Jigsaw Home Solutions for the month.

Here are a few photos from that show.

I have also been working on some pieces
for an upcoming show in October in
Lancaster, PA. More info on that to come
later
