2018 The Year in Review

2018
was an eventful year at Studio 419.
First came the name change,
from Dan's Recycled Art to Studio 419.

The year started with the Affiliates Artist show at
Riverview Renaissance Center for the Arts.

==========================================================

In April I was the featured artist at
An Octopus's Garden.
This has become an annual event for Earth Day.

======================================================

June was a busy month.
I completed Community Spirit
for Homan Park in Swedesboro

======================================================

Also in June
I held my first Open House and Sale
at Studio 419

=========================================================

In September I began exhibiting
in an exciting new gallery in Swarthmore, PA

=====================================================

The year ended with Christmas sales
at various galleries.

================================================

Of course, none of this would be possible without
my lovely wife and agent extraordinaire,
Patrice

My ETSY Shop

 My favorite sculptures are those which would be called 'tabletop' sculptures.
They range in size from 18 to 36 inches.

However, because I have limited space, I started
creating smaller pieces.
These pieces are easier to store and transport,
and also are quite suitable for shipping,
as the freight costs are affordable.

It is for this reason that I opened an ETSY shop.
ETSY is an online medium for selling handmade goods
and is especially suited for selling smaller works of art.

An Octopus's Garden

"An Octopus's Garden" is a wonderful
shop located in the Village on High shopping
village in Millville, NJ.  This is in the heart of
Millville's art district. Mike and Maryann, the owners, are great folks who will warmly
welcome you to their shop.

They feature an eclectic mix of one-of-a-kind
handmade items created by local artists. You
won't find any cheesy, mass-produced,
products there. If that is what you want,
there is a Wal-Mart down the road.
However, if you are looking for a truly
unique item, be it a piece of jewelry, a painting,
a piece of sculpture, or maybe some artistic
stationary, then this is the place for you.

Whether shopping for yourself or looking
for that perfect gift, they are sure to have
something to fit the bill, AND you won't
have to break the bank. They have items
appropriate for every budget.

I'm proud to display my work at "An
Octopus's Garden".  So stop in sometime
soon and see what they have in store.
You're sure to find something exciting and new.

An Octopus's Garden

This past weekend, Mike and Maryann Kuntz,
the proprietors of 'An Octopus's Garden' in
Millville, invited me to be their featured
artist for Third Friday. So I packed up a
bunch of my smaller garden accents and
headed down.

 While setting up on Friday afternoon, the
weather was beautiful, but as the sun
started to set, it became quite windy and
the temperature became rather chilly.
However, that didn't seem to deter people,
as there was a nice turnout. People just
bundled up and didn't let the chill stop
them from having a pleasant evening out
on the town.

 I did feel sorry for the musicians as they
tried to play with freezing fingers.
Nevertheless, they did a fine job, and
provided a stimulating atmosphere for
shopping and socializing.

 I had a successful weekend, selling
some pieces and getting some
more exposure.

 Next month, May, I will be involved in two
shows. I will have a solo show at Yogawood
in Collingswood, and I will have one piece
entered in the Perkins Members Show in
Moorestown. More about them in my next
post.

Also, I'd like to thank my friend Ian Bianchi for
taking the photos included in this post.

Featured Artist

This Friday, April 15, 2011, I will be the
featured artist at 'An Octopus's Garden'.
'An Octopus's Garden' is a small gallery
in Millville's Glasstown Arts District. It is
located in The Village on High, at 510 N.
High Street, Millville, NJ 08332.

 I became acquainted with them during
my show at Carp Cottage, and since then
they have been showing my work.
 This time, rather than show my larger works,
I will be featuring smaller, whimsical pieces
for the garden. These pieces are quite affordable,
starting at just $30.

I will be there Friday 4/15/11 form 1pm-9pm.
Come on down and spend a Friday night in the
District.
