2018 The Year in Review

2018
was an eventful year at Studio 419.
First came the name change,
from Dan's Recycled Art to Studio 419.

The year started with the Affiliates Artist show at
Riverview Renaissance Center for the Arts.

==========================================================

In April I was the featured artist at
An Octopus's Garden.
This has become an annual event for Earth Day.

======================================================

June was a busy month.
I completed Community Spirit
for Homan Park in Swedesboro

======================================================

Also in June
I held my first Open House and Sale
at Studio 419

=========================================================

In September I began exhibiting
in an exciting new gallery in Swarthmore, PA

=====================================================

The year ended with Christmas sales
at various galleries.

================================================

Of course, none of this would be possible without
my lovely wife and agent extraordinaire,
Patrice

A Second Chance

Monument to Industry

My latest show.
"A Second Chance"
will feature over 40 new
pieces of sculpture.

Dark Ruins

Contrivance #1

These pieces are created from
the discarded items of modern industry.

I've taken found pieces of scrap metal
and collected parts of old machinery
and given them a second chance at life
as new pieces of art.

comporre`

Created from objects found and collected on the highways of southern New Jersey,
comporre` is a sculpture that presents a compelling vision.

The heavy center piece,
combined with the attached chain,
(just as it was found), evokes a sense of strength.
The circle attempts to keep that strength within bounds,
but the chain escapes those bounds and roots the entire piece to the earth.

Suitable for indoor or outdoor display,
indoor is preferred.

It has not been coated or sealed in any way.
All the components are in their found condition,
except for some sharp edges that have been removed.

.

The chain is free to move and can be rearranged to create a variety of views.

I Gotta Get Better

I really must do a better job of keeping
current with my posts. It seems there
is always something else to do.

Since my last post, I have been busy.
I've had shows in Millville, Ocean City,
Lancaster and Berwyn.

I've also been doing well on my Etsy
shop. You can view my Etsy shop
here.

I have a show coming up next month
at Gloucester County College. I will
be posting more about that next week.
I promise.

All the pieces shown on this page
have found new homes. I hope their
new owners enjoy them as much
as  did

Earth Day 2013

Once again An Octopus's Garden has invited
me to be the featured artist for Earth Day Weekend.
I really enjoy being a part of the Earth Day
celebrations. It gives me an opportunity to show
what can be done with used and recycled materials.

There are many people doing many amazing
things with recycled material, from art to building
construction, and everything in between. One doesn't
need to be overly creative or have to "think outside
the box" to be a part. Just using one less paper cup
or napkin a day is an easy way to help protect our
dwindling and fragile resources.

This year's festivities kick off with the Third Friday
events on Friday, April 19, 2013, 6-9:30 pm.
Third Friday is always fun. The art district stays open
late and there is music all over town with great shopping,
food and drink.

I have been busy making new sculpture for the weekend.
I will also have with me more of my WORDS . They always
seem to be a favorite.

I have created a new series of sculpture, STICKS. These
are small sculptures designed to be both fun and
affordable. I have made one larger version of a STICK
sculpture that will be given to a lucky attendee. So stop by
and put your name in the hat.

This sculpture will be given away to the winner of the drawing.

The details are:

Update

It's been quite a while since my last
post, so I thought it was time to catch up
on a few things.

I was in a show at Annex 24 Gallery in Lancaster,
PA for the months of November, December, and
January. The show was a success, with throngs
of people out enjoying the holiday events.

I had a great time up there. We got to see the
sights around Lancaster County, which is always one
of our favorite places to visit.

Crusade

This Saturday, March 23, I will be in a show opening
at Tria Art Gallery in Woodbury, NJ. Tria is a new
gallery that just recently opened. It's nice to see
the arts coming to some local towns in the
Gloucester County area.

I will once again be the Featured Artist for Earth
Day Weekend at An Octopus's Garden in
Millville, NJ.  More on that later.

So I have been keeping busy. I just haven't been
keeping current with my posts on here.
